About Phil

Phil Buckle is an Australian songwriter, producer and mixing engineer. His song-writing career began in the early 90’s when he penned hits for his own band, the highly successful Southern Sons and Australian recording legend John Farnham.

In 1990 Phil was awarded the ARIA Song of the Year for the song Burn For You.

During this period he achieved 3 top ten hits and a double platinum album with Southern Sons and a six times platinum album Chain Reaction with John Farnham.

In 1991 he was nominated again for the ARIA Song of the Year for the song Always and Ever and received the APRA award for most played song of the year Heart In Danger.

In this year he also received the highest Australian accolade: APRA Songwriter of the Year.

                             ............................................

Ok, let's stop right there...what happened after that?

Well, the internet happened and writers like me had to "readjust" to the new way of the world.

I have never stopped writing but I won't bore you with the details.

I did spend a long stint as a staff writer for Universal Publishing Production Music.

Fast forward to present times and I am now writing for myself. I started my musical journey as a singer songwriter and I am so happy to have returned........minus the harmonica holder and denim cap!

Below you will find some videos of my past work and very soon I will upload some from my current album "Custom Made".

Oh.....and you will notice some dummy "placeholder" images down the bottom of the site. They will be replaced by Instagram posts when I start promoting the new album.
